Tracey Brooks was named CEO of Family Planning Advocates of New York State, a nonprofit advocacy organization that represents New York State’s Planned Parenthood affiliates and family planning providers. Brooks replaces JoAnn M. Smith, who headed the organization for thirteen years.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to head an organization that has been a leader in advancing and protecting women’s health and rights,” said Ms. Brooks. “Our work is not done. I look forward to continuing and building on the amazing work of JoAnn Smith, and Shirley Gordon, to advance FPA’s agenda in the upcoming legislative session.”
Most recently, Ms. Brooks was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives, 21st District. Prior to that, Brooks served as Regional Director of the Capital Region/Hudson Valley for Senator Hillary Clinton where her duties included working with congressional, state, county and local elected officials. Prior to that she was Counsel to the Justice Team for the New York State Assembly Program and Counsel office where she was involved in drafting and reviewing legislation.
“Tracey Brooks has a demonstrated record of accomplishment, leadership and commitment that will help to advance FPA’s agenda,” said FPA Board Chair Catherine Abate.
