Gelila Kidane Goba, M.D.

Gelila Kidane Goba, M.D., is Country Director of EngenderHealth-Ethiopia.
Dr. Kidane provides leadership and management of programs across sixty hospitals and health centers in three regions of Ethiopia including --
- the expansion of long-acting family planning methods,
- quality improvement,
- HIV-prevention in pregnant and post-partum mothers, and
- post-abortion care
Prior to joining EngenderHealth, Dr. Gelila was Team Leader for the Prevention of Maternal to Child Transmission of HIV for IntraHealth International, where she supervised five staff in the implementation of programs in 40 rural health centers.
She was also Department Head for Maternal and Child Health Programs at the Addis Ababa Health Bureau, overseeing programs serving three million women, adolescents, and children.
Dr. Kidane is a 1997 graduate of Jimma University Medical School, Ethiopia, and was a Fellow in the Packard-Gates Population Leadership Program.
She is currently an MPH-candidate at the University of Washington.
