Anu Kumar, PhD, MPH, is the Executive Vice President for Development and Communications of Ipas, an international nonprofit organization that focuses on women's sexual and reproductive rights and abortion issues. In this capacity she oversees fundraising and communications for the agency. With her seven years experience here and her prior work devoted to women's health, she is an engaging and capable spokesperson for Ipas and for women in need.
A Fulbright scholar in India, she earned a PhD in anthropology and an MPH from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Ipas, Dr. Kumar was senior program officer in the population and reproductive health area of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; a social scientist at the World Health Organization's Reproductive Health Research Division; assistant professor of maternal and child health at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
